About us
Healthy and sustainable cities are one of the biggest challenges of our time. Architects, engineers and developers have great difficulties in facing a growing set of contradictory requirements regarding emissions, energy consumption, costs, and the quality and comfort of living spaces. UrbanMetrix aims to revolutionize the way we design buildings in urban environments leveraging on environmental resources. It enables an inverted approach that makes environmental design simple, visible and fast to handle, opening to much better results.
Our product emerged from a deep-tech fusion of cutting-edge science, technology and engineering methods from the disciplines of: digital architecture, sustainable design, environmental analysis, energy systems, numerical simulation, cloud computing, big data, web technologies, 3D graphics, and geometrical computing. This multidisciplinary integration allowed to tackle the highly complex issue of leveraging environmental resources to design emission free and livable cites, at an unprecedented pace.
This journey originated from fundamental scientific research conducted at the ETH Zürich with the support from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Further support from the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre (ESA-BIC), the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse) and the Foundation Alcea, allowed us to make UrbanMetrix currenlty available to Swiss professionals. The product will be soon available in more countries, subscribe here to get notified.
The product-features related to the filtering, combination, and transformation of environmental data via a graphical user interface are protected by two international pending patents. UrbanMetrix is an internationally registered trademark.
