Geodata
The first step of our technological work-flow of our product relies on the fusion of multiple global and national data sources that can be combined with user input.
The more high-resolution and accurate the geodata is, the more we can deliver accurate results. The latest generation of large-scale/high-resolution airborne and spaceborne 3D LIDAR datasets provide very accurate information with the form of terrain, buildings, and vegetation. The application process of UrbanMetrix starts by user-data input and automatic data-gathering processes that allow to set up a 3D geometrical model of the site. The geometrical components of the scene like the terrain, buildings, vegetation, and other objects like lakes, rivers and streets, are then typically represented by triangle meshes composed by millions of triangles and serve as a base for the simulations.
These objects can be edited by the user that can erase them or draw 2.5D obstructions and project sketches directly in the 3D visualizer. Alternatively, the user can import 3D objects to be used as custom scene, custom obstructions, or project sketches.
